Open Calls at The Fishbowl
Artist Call: Ephemerality
Call for Art: As we near Autumn - the period of change - we are reminded to reflect on the ephemerality of the seasons and its parallels to the human experience. From a brief occurrence, to the passage of time, Ephemerality is frequently a constant. Whether the experience is positive or negative, or somewhere in between, artists are invited to explore a concept that is not meant to last and the emotions that come with that. It could be a momentary feeling of unease and knowing that it will not be permanent or chasing a point of contentment that has come and gone. This show explores art that is a product of change, degradation, fleetingness, impermanence, transitions, decay and growth, grief and acceptance and how these experiences are explored artistically. Any medium or subject is welcome; whether it be a performative work, or a two or three dimensional installation, this show seeks to examine change and that art that comes of it.
Submissions are open to artists of all backgrounds and levels of experience.
We accommodate 2D and stationary sculptural installations. For site-specific work, we leave the installation to the artist and ask you please include in your submission thorough sketches of your work in The Fishbowl. If you haven't visited before, we recommend attending any of our weekly events to see the space before you submit.
Artworks can encompass various mediums (e.g. photography paintings, mixed media, 2D and 3D art etc.) but must provoke thought and discussion around the theme of healing and transformation.
Submissions should include an artist statement that delves into the philosophical and emotional aspects of your work.
Submission Requirements:
